Bike the Bluewater Trail

Explore Mackay’s award-winning Bluewater Trail on foot or on one of the hotel's own stylish bicycles, FREE hire available for guests. The Bluewater Trail passes Mackay Oceanside Central  Hotel  and leads through the picturesque Sandfly Creek Environmental walk, towards the city centre. Follow the bank of the Pioneer River, Queensland’s only blue water river, passing impressive public art sculptures. Visit key attractions along your journey such as the Bluewater Lagoon, Canelands Shopping Centre and Mackay Botanical Gardens.

Parks and Playgrounds

Iluka Park is a playground designed for children to play. The colourful, interactive playground is located only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. Queens Park is a spacious recreation area, located within a five minute walk from Mackay Oceanside Central Hotel. The expansive parklands feature mature trees and large fields, perfect for a family game of cricket, or a morning run. The Orchid House at Queens Park is a popular tourist attraction, hosting a range of native and exotic orchid varieties for the public to view.

Beaches

The Mackay region is home to more than 30 different beaches, many of them are patrolled and safe for swimming, while others are popular for crabbing and fishing. Town Beach is a short stroll from Mackay Oceanside Central Hotel and offers stunning views.

Breathtakingly beautiful and ecologically diverse, Eungella National Park is one of the Mackay Region’s most treasured destinations. Walk a trail to a beautiful waterfall in Finch Hatton Gorge, or fly through the treetops of the rainforest on a zip-wire. Spot the playful platypus in its natural environment from the viewing platform at Broken River. Or scuba dive the waters of the rainforest to discover the unique marine life.
